Structured Products are becoming increasingly difficult to understand and the FFMA is concerned that investors are being sold unsuitable products. Structured Products work by watching the performance of a specific market, only some of these investments afford capital protection.
Many today view the Structured Products as a good alternative to low interest rates, but this claim is not clear cut.
The ETP will buy the securities or shares that comprise the actual index, it might hold some or all of these and track the prices.
In order to better service in this area, and clarify issues pertaining to Structured Products for the public, we have investigated the methods of many providers to ensure improvements and clarification. Furthermore, we introduced new regulations that force providers to find the right product for each customer.
